My journey as an artist began on New Year Eve 2025 when I decided to enter the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition which has been on my bucket list of things to do for years. I went on a journey of discovery trying out many different ideas and subjects until I eventually created my first piece 'The importance of being Idle'. It felt like a very natural style and subject matter as story telling and life drawing was what I was drawn to as a student. My figurative paintings are a response to everyday moments, elevating the mundane, and often portraying a sense of social commentary.

I often start each piece with an idea, working from sketches, observation and photographs then moving back to the studio to experiment with composition and colour, allowing the act of drawing to take me on a journey.

I was totally surprised and delighted when my painting was shortlisted and then selected for the 2026 Summer Exhibition. Then when I was told my framed print and all 50 editions were sold straight away I was thrilled and a little overwhelmed as it was so unexpected. I have a very busy full time job as a Senior designer / illustrator so finding the time and creative energy to work on my own art has been difficult but very rewarding. I am now busy delivering my sold prints, putting together this website, and creating more work. It has been a steep learning curve, working everything out as I go and learning from my mistakes. It has been a challenge but a really satisfing one.

​So please bear with me as I take time to develop my art and website.  I have launched 2 New Editions of 'The Importance of being Idle' and I'm busy working on a new collection of prints to sell in my store. So watch this space.
